As a pilot program stemming from a CAA Academic Alliance IN/CO Round 3 grant project award, faculty and students from UNCW, Elon and NC A & T are currently participating as the first cohort of CAA Research Scholars. Based on the scholarship outcomes of the UNCW Principal Investigator for the project, the CAA Research Scholars program is rooted in the creation of inter-institutional “research cores”- focusing on preclinical sciences, epidemiology/public health, allied health sciences, applied learning, and community engagement.

The inaugural group of CAA Research Scholars will offer their initial findings at a regional research symposium event in October, 2023. Student and faculty pairs from all three CAA institutions involved with the pilot program will be presenting at the symposium, hosted by UNCW, with virtual attendance options included.
